What is povidone iodine gauze used for?
Povidone-iodine is a topical antiseptic agent used for the treatment and prevention of infection in wounds.
Povidone-iodine Fabric Dressing is used as a wound contact layer for abrasions and superficial burns.
For covering, cleaning and desinfecting wounds. Doesn't stick to wounds. Forms a porous barrier allowing the wound to 'breathe'.
It is contra-indicated in patients with severe renal impairment and in women who are pregnant or breast-feeding.
It should be used with caution in patients with thyroid disease and in children under 6 months.
